Lose the Bitch, Lets Get Rich!

This week’s Top Secret Women’s Blog is called Lose the Bitch, Let’s Get Rich and is about what I call the ‘comparison and competitive phenomenon’. Why do women compete and compare so heavily with each other when it appears against our nature? Are we not reinforcing the stereotype that we are bitchy? In this article, I will look at solutions to comparing ourselves to one another that will have every woman winning… And getting RICHER and WISER for your collective effort!

SO LADIES, WHAT IS THE ‘COMPARISON and COMPETITIVE PHENOMENON’?

It is a dis-ease amongst women in this day in age that can be crippling, debilitating and awefully lonely. Competing and comparing is something that has been around for centuries but nowadays the anti is much higher and more ferocious. Women are competing against each other for the top ranking jobs that pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, with few big jobs to go around, it’s no wonder competition is becoming fierce. And it’s still a man’s world right?

Jobs are not all we compete for and compare with other women. We compare who is the best dressed, who has the most money and the cutest, richest boyfriend. We compete for the slimmest waist line, the fastest car or biggest diamond. Women’s magazines are a testimony to this.

Well the list goes on, remember being in the school playground and competing with other girls to be in
the cool gang or showing up with the latest toys or cutest boy to the disco? Some competition is healthy, like who won this week’s Netball game but as adults, most of it is out of control.

Have you ever walked into a party and scanned the room to size up the other women? Who is better looking, more well known, more glamorous or better dressed, single or not? Have you ever checked out another woman’s breasts and wondered if they were real, instead of just admiring them? What if she had more letters of qualifications after her name? Have you ever told a white lie to make yourself look better, more interesting in front of another woman? Or put another woman down because of what she wore or how she spoke, what she did or didn’t have… Be honest?

We have all thought at least one of these thoughts at least once in our life time, we are human after all. Well it’s not a very good excuse for being judgemental and disrepectful… Again we work hard, achieve plenty, manage our time, set goals and go after what we want no matter what, so what is the real cost of not honoring another woman for who she really is and what she has achieved? And what is really going on under the facade of pleasantries?

When we judge others, we are really only judging ourselves. Our thoughts are a mirror image of what we see in the world and what we think creates our reality and how we percieve it. Our language both internal (your self talk) and external, tell us an enormous amount about who you really are and how you truly see the world.

Putting another woman down to make yourself feel and look better, is a sure sign of your own insecurities. Besides the grand lack of respect it shows for another (especially yourself), competition and comparison in this manner is unwarranted and wasted energy. Your opinion of another is only your opinion, no one elses business. These thoughts come from the space of lack, are energetically charged with ‘bad karma’ and put you in a negative emotional state where building wealth is near impossible. Who wants to continue on like this? Any wonder life gets so hard with all that negative self talk and energy floating around?
Life is meant to be easy ladies. We are all on this amazing trip together, so maybe it’s time to…

Webster dictrionary gives the meaning of Competition as - rivalry for supremacy or a struggle between organisms.. In any case, it doesn’t sound too good for us, now does it? And besides, competitiveness is a masculine trait and quite against a woman’s natural state of being.

Isn’t your life filled with enough obstacles and challenges without creating more out of jealousy, insecurities and small minded thinking processes?

Honoring and cherishing another woman is really only honoring and cherishing yourself! When was the last time you took the time to really see and feel the presence of another woman.
